69 Aftermarket seats

I have a 69 GT Fastback and the factory seats suck for me. Unfortunately I'm disabled with a very bad back injury and I've been looking for aftermarket reclining front seats but am very confused about what I'm finding mainly due to the inability to "test drive" the seats...... Anyone have a preferred seat that might work for me so I don't buy something that's not for me.... I can't drive my baby more than 20 minutes at a time without stopping to get the feeling back in my legs. Numbness in the legs and feet is a bitch but I am determined to be comfortable driving my "Dream Car". And she is a "Beauty"!!!! Please help me........

Lots of people swap in newer modern seats from later model mustangs. This would afford you a couple benefits. The first being the ability to test drive the seats in someones car. The second being the advantage of getting a modern seat with all the power goodies which could include a power lumbar system and or even heated seats! You can usually score a set of nice late model mustang seats in leather fairly cheap as compared to buying something new in the aftermarket as well.

I do not know just how much could be involved in fitting such a seat into a 69. I'm sure one of the guys here is. It's fairly straight forward in the earlier cars. Worse case you might need to lower a seat pan as is done in the 65/66 depending on drivers stature.

Lots of folks have swapped in later model Mustang seats. For most 1979-93 seats there are even upholstery sets to make them match what you have now. The GT and LX seats have different cushions. The tracks on 1994-98 cars fit the same but the seats sit up a bit higher so you would probable need to lower the pans. I don't believe there are upholstery kits for those but you may find them to be more to your liking as far as comfort. The real point is that these cars are out there where you can test drive them and see if the seats help you.
Another example are some BMW seats. I think 320i cars. You might want to look into those. People tend to refer to those cars by the chassis types, E46 and such. Which is confusing to non-BMW fanboys because those designations are nowhere on or in the car. Where model designations like 325i and such are easily spotted on the decklid.
Pretty sure they are of no use to you for comfort but my seats came from a Mitsubishi. They caught my eye as to looks but I spent about 15 minutes in them which is what really sold me on them. Mating them to the car was a chore but well worth it to me.
