67/8 Tilt Harness questions

Anyone know the difference in a 68 tilt and non tilt steering column harness?

Also I have a 67 column but will but it in a 68. Do I get a 67 or 68 harness? I have the correct connector to use for the under-dash hookup for a 68.

The basic columns are different in overall diameter beneath the steering wheel, IIRC from reading stuff on the sister site: concoursmustang.com

To your first question, for the '67 column the tilt harness has the spring loaded tilt release bar while the non tilt harness does not. The '68 tilt harness should be the same. Off the top of my head the wiring itself should be the same (a comparison of the wiring diagrams for each year should confirm that) but due to the different shape of the harness connectors at the base of the steering column between '67 and '68, the pin outs will be different. It's been a while since I was inside the column but i do have a vague recollection that the replacement harnesses have an extra wire that is not used in the Mustang. Again, the wiring schematics should help sort that out.
