What have you done on your house today?

This is the second winter we've had it. We had fires all weeekend and it didnt get warm, i checked several times. I'm pretty sure i didnt have 12" before with my old mantle, i used the same mounting holes.

Replaced the bearings and seals on the pool pump. Guys at the pool supply store wanted $200. My cost was $40 and some garage time.

Thanks for the motivation Terry!

We got a roof and windows this week

Rick, the thread is : what YOU have done .........!!!
BTW nice castle you are building (by a company).:cool:

Fixed a few naggling items. House has crawl space and whoever installed the dryer venting ~15yrs. ago they used duct tape to seal all the joints, this was found on the home inspection when I bought. Pulled the ~20ft. of pipe out and cleaned out the lint, then retaped with the proper silver stuff, the duct tape was deteriorating. Also replaced the drier vent cap outside that I had busted up hitting with the mower, installed one with the flaps that only open when it's running, flat otherwise.

While I was in the crawlspace I changed out the last of 3 original copper outside faucets, 2/3 had burst on previous years freezes, thought I'd catch this one ahead of time. At least that PEX stuff is easy to cut and slipfit adapters are easy to use. After watching 3 episodes of Walking Dead the night before I got the dog to go into the crawl space first to check for biters.

Couple weeks prior I pulled down the fake plastic shutters that were now gray and hit them with a fresh coat of semigloss black, little things make a big difference for curb appeal, my neighbors faded ones are more obvious now and it prompted the neighbor across the street to replace his.

finally got the new shop closed up. Doors on, lights on, toys moved in. Still a long way to go before I am ready to move everything in. Next step is to epoxy the floors, build the bathroom and compressor room, run water, and air. then close in the interior walls. Maybe I will be done before I retire in 10 years!shop outside.jpg shop inside.jpg

Nice shop, Ken! That second pic with the motor home was good for scale. First pic didn't make it seem so huge.

yes, it is hard to determine the size in the first picture. 50' deep by 60' wide with a minimum wall height of 16'. The two far doors are 12'w x 14'h and the near door is 20'w x 10'h. And yes I did most of the work, with the help of a few friends. I did hire out a company I use at work to help hang the siding. Once I get it all done, then I can start on my 67 convertible or 77 Bronco project. While it doesn't get extremely cold here in California, the radiant heated floors will make it a nice, comfortable working environment.

Ken:

Where is the lift going? Also, when can I sign up to use it ??!!

Regards, Jeff
The lift goes where the Bronco chassis is currently sitting. But I need to get the floors done and hang all the interior metal beforehand. Then, you are more than welcome to share the space! That side will comfortably hold 4 cars, up to six if I am just using it for parking.
