Trunk mounted battery pos cable routing 67-68 Mustang

I decided to use the factory location to mount my coil and ignition box. The battery has no choice, but be moved to the trunk in a battery box. I routed my pos cable through the hole that is already in the inside lower fender. I wanted to route along the inside of the frame rail (I also have subframe connectors), but my side exhaust is making this hard. I am also having trouble routing around my long tube headers.

I would love to get some advice and for those of you who know me...some pics. What is the best way to route my pos cable to the started solenoid?

mine runs inside the car, over the wheel well (using insulted C clips and some split plastic wire covering) under the door jamb up under the dash and out the hole for the antenna with a rubber grommet then a couple more C clips on the bottom of fender bolts with nuts. One small hole in the fender apron right behind the solenoid, with a rubber grommet.

My routing is almost identical to Rick's! At the door sill, I ran the cable through some garden hose that that fits in the channel. Just for that extra abrasion resistance.

I think mine mostly is like Rick and Mel. Its running through the rocker/sill area on passenger side like the wiring harness does on the drivers side. Then I drilled a hole in A pillar, used a grommet. It comes out in the wheel area under/ inside the right front fender. Then it comes into engine compartment at the solenoid. The battery is in the trunk on the passenger side so the cable goes ip over the right rear wheel house into the interior where the rear quarter window is (coupe).

Thanks for the replies. I initially started inside the car and decided I'd rather have it out. My fear inside the sill plate had to do with speaker wire distortion and I had trouble figuring out a path after the sill plate. I do not have the ability to remove my front fenders. Long story. Don't ask.

Have any of you had anything that you would do differently?

Im not sure about speaker wire distortion. My stereo equipment such as amps are in the trunk. I have speaker wires and RCA cables running along the trans tunnel under the carpet and console.
I have had my battery cables setup like this for so many years I cant recall exactly how long, but no issues.
If you cant go thru the A pillar you might be able to fish it out the kick panel area and then thru the firewall?

Like i said, mine goes through the antenna hole, i doubt the fender would have to come off, but you would have to remove the rear splash shield, i believe i notched mine for the cable. My speaker wires run down the drivers side. The only issue i have is the battery box in a FB trunk. It takes a little manuevering to get the lid off or the battery out of the box. Only complaint i have with my setup.

I have an Optima battery, so no battery box.

I did notch the splash shield on mine. Didn't think about using the antenna hole. Might be able to feed it through there with fender on

Yes that does look better but us "Craig's" like a little junk in our trunk!

You are correct. I mounted my box in my FB and the trunk hinge makes it hard to remove the lid. I will try some of these when I get home tonight. I may just be able to check this off my list so I can break this engine in.

I'd recommend that you not use a Piece of Sh!t (pos) battery cable for this purpose...

Never mind about the additional pics. I took your advice figured it out and I should be wrapping it up soon. Thanks for all your help

I got some great advice on this one. I went over the rear wheel well, through the door pillar (used some hose to protect the cable), down the sill plate and up through the antenna hole and into the front wheel well and popped out right at the starter solenoid. rubber coated tie downs all the way. Thanks again for all the help and finally there are some great pics for the next guy.
