Metal building experience?

I bought a car port tent thing and with the first wind it scared me. Had to strap all sides everywhere. So I am thinking about buying a more solid storage unit. This way I could keep my mustang and el camino in it and still have a small storage area/work shop. Anyone have any experience with steel buildings? Can give me some tips? The side of my house is paved for an RV so that is already taken care of. I just need to figure out what I want to do. I found this: http://www.duramaxbp.com/vinylsheds_overview.php?product_id=110 . Its a 12'x32' building that I can get 6' add on sections. I would do one of those for a total of 12x38'. It has an 8' wide roll up door and a side sliding door. Looks like it would be around 2700 for the building and around 500 for the extra 6 foot section. I am figuring about 3500 for the set up. Any thoughts? Is this good pricing? High/low etc? The mustang just got painted a few months ago so I want to protect it and it makes sense to put it in a solid structure. I live in SoCal. So no tornado's/snow etc. Just wind, rain, heat, and earthquakes lol. Any input?

First question is about zoning. Can you even have such a structure? Didn't we cover this subject before? Freakin' memory...

Working on checking. But still looking for feedback. Was talking about building something previously. Now looking at a temporary building anchored down

I am in the process of putting up a steel building currently. Mine is quite a bit bigger, 50'x60' with 16' walls. There are lots of building brokers around, only a few actual suppliers. Do lots of research on who you plan on buying from. go to www.garagejournal.com to learn more than you can ever imagine about steel buildings and experiences people have had. I ended up buying from Empire Steel Buildings, they are out of San Diego. I also was seriously considering www.steelbuilding.com as they came highly recommended.

Permitting can be fun, especially in California. The size you are talking about really moves from temporary to permanent in most cases. I would spend the money you are talking about in a heartbeat if you can get past all the regs!

About 10 years ago we built the shop-30 x 40. I looked at alot of the building "kits". In the end, my welder friend convinced me to purchase the materials alone...he didn't like the building "kits". I spent about $4000 on metal, and the same size building kit was 6-7 thousand. Now I had to have several friends come and help construct it. We spent a few weekends inviting friends over for BBQ and some work. We had it up in about a month and a half after the the slab got poured. I hired out the slab ($7,000), welded our own anchor plates and trusses, and put it up. It only took a few months to fill it up with cars and parts. Go Bigger!

i have a morton building. they are a little different in that they are all wood frame structure but are as solid as any steel frame without those big beams that most have.

I am just looking for something simple to store my cars in and maybe do a little work in. I will have to check into some of these places.
