Job Opening..Diesel Mechanic

In today's world one would think it would be easy to find candidates for a good paying job. We posted an ad in the local paper and locally online and have had a total of one response so far. So, I am going to take a different approach. Telling all my internet "friends" about it and ask for opinions on other sources for good mechanics. If you know of anyone that wants to move to the Central Valley of California and is a good, hard worker with mechanic skills, please let them know. If you have an idea of other places to advertise, please let me know.

I realize that moving to California is tough, so most likely will find someone already living in the state. But considering we have hit a brick wall so far...anything goes.

Now for the job:

Locomotive diesel mechanic
Competitive pay depending on experience $20-$25 per hour to start
Excellent benefits including vacation, health, dental, life...etc.
Railroad retirement as opposed to Social Security (pays more than twice what SS does)
Very stable company, owned by the same family for 103 years
Great working environment
skills necessary: diesel mechanic, electrical, computer, hydraulic, welding

Contrary to what the MSM reports, the CA Central Valley is a great affordable place to live and raise a family.

No wonder its so dear to live in OZ.
The pay rate here would be 3 times that for a trade qualified mechanic and 5 -7 times in the remote coal mines.

Yeah....thanks for the apples to oranges comparison. This is a blue collar job in a semi-rural environment. $50K a year plus benefits is above average for this area, and I guarantee that our cost of living is well below your wonderful OZ's...not to mention our cost of American muscle car ownership!

If I had diesel mechanic experience I would do it. Jenn and I have been talking about moving out of SoCal for a while. Just scary to make the first step.

David, don't ever be afraid to move. You never know what opportunities will open up for you. Deb and I have moved many times and each time was for the best!

I occasionally have other jobs that come available...so I will check back with you and see if those fit your skill set. That is assuming the Central Valley would be a choice for your move.

For you. Poor Deb is now stuck supporting your soap watching butt.
